My Story

I’ve felt deeply connected to the ocean and the natural world for as long as I can remember. Even as a little girl, there was something about being around animals in the wild that made everything else fade away.

Our minds can be a busy place. My imagination especially is almost always running, and I’m usually thinking about what happened before, what comes next, or a hundred things in between. But put wildlife in front of me and somehow, it all goes completely quiet.

That feeling has never stopped taking my breath away: every. single. time.

II · Why

Why I photograph

There is something incredibly authentic about the way nature pulls you into the present moment. When I’m immersed in the ocean or surrounded by wildlife, everything seems to align: mind, body, and soul. That kind of presence doesn’t come around very often.

Maybe we aren’t meant to have our minds racing every second of every day. Nature has always been the thing that reminds me of that.

Photography became my way of holding onto those moments. I wanted to capture even a fraction of the magic I have always seen in the natural world and give someone else the chance to feel it too.

Each photograph of mine holds a memory. A passing encounter, a place, an animal, a moment when everything else went quiet. And to me, each one is also a reminder of what is worth protecting.

III · Giving back

Protecting the Wild

Lost fishing nets keep killing long after they’re gone, trapping the wildlife that inspires my work and enriches this world in so many ways. 15% of profits go to the Salish Sea Alliance, whose divers have pulled more than 5,800 ghost nets from the ocean. Every print you hang brings one more net home.

If one of my photographs ends up in your space, I hope it does more than fill a wall. I hope every once in a while, it makes you stop. Look a little closer. Let your mind go quiet for a moment. And feel some of the wonder I felt on the other side of the lens.
